A dating photographer in Toronto costs from $195 CAD for a 30-minute session to $350 CAD for a 90-minute session, at Tinder Photography. Other studios set their own prices, so the useful question is what the fee covers and which package fits your profile.
This guide uses our current packages as the worked example, so you can see where the money goes. Check the packages section for the latest prices before you book.
What you pay for at Tinder Photography
There are three packages, all priced in Canadian dollars. Every session includes pose and expression coaching, natural-light photography, and professional editing.
- Basic, $195: a 30-minute photoshoot, 10 edited photographs, 1–2 outfit changes, and delivery in 7 business days.
- Premium, $250: a 60-minute photoshoot, 65 edited photographs, 3–4 outfit changes, and delivery in 4 business days. This is the package clients book most often.
- Plus, $350: a 90-minute photoshoot, 100+ edited photographs, 6+ outfit changes, delivery in 2 days with express included, all raw images, and bio copywriting.
If you need your photos sooner, 24-hour express delivery can be added to any package for $50.
Why the price is mostly time and editing
A dating photoshoot looks short from the outside. The cost sits in the parts you do not see: planning the session, coaching you through poses so you stop feeling stiff, narrowing the session down to the frames worth keeping, and editing the final set.
Session length is the clearest difference between packages. Thirty minutes is enough to warm up and get a handful of strong frames. Ninety minutes gives you room to relax, change outfits several times, and move between settings, which is where the variety in a good profile comes from.
How to choose between the three packages
Start with how many photos your profile actually needs. A dating profile only shows a handful of photos, so ten edited images can cover one profile with little to spare. Sixty-five gives you real choice, and a hundred or more is closer to a library you can draw from for a year.
Basic suits a quick refresh
Choose Basic if you already have one or two photos you like and need to replace the weak ones. It works for someone who is comfortable in front of a camera and wants a clean set of new shots without a long session.
Premium suits most first-timers
Premium is the package most clients choose, and the reason is time. An hour gives us room for a real variety of shots, and it gives you time to get comfortable with us. Comfort comes first, and the good photos build from there as the session goes on. If you are nervous about being photographed, this is the package we would point you to. Sixty-five photographs also means you can pick a spread of looks: a clear face shot, a full-length shot, something active, and something social.
Plus suits a full rebuild
Choose Plus if you are starting from nothing, you use more than one app, or you want photos for other purposes as well. The raw images and bio copywriting make it the complete option. Fast delivery matters if you are about to go back on the apps and do not want to wait.
What to wear
The question clients ask us most is not about price. It is what to wear. Our general advice is simple: wear what you would wear on a first date.
That rules out both extremes. Skip the suit and tie, skip the sweats, and skip anything chosen just to get attention. A dating photo should look like the person who shows up to the date.
Fit matters more than formality. These usually work well:
- A fitted knit, henley, or clean button-down, with dark jeans or chinos.
- A simple fitted top with straight or wide-leg trousers or jeans.
- Clean sneakers or boots that you already wear.
Variety across your outfits also helps, because the same shirt in every photo makes a profile feel thin. That is one more reason to look at outfit changes when you compare packages.
Where sessions take place
Our sessions run in downtown Toronto, and the guide to Toronto dating photo locations shows the kinds of settings that work well.
How to compare any photographer’s quote
Prices only make sense side by side when you compare the same things. Whoever you are considering, ask these questions before you decide:
- How long is the session, and does it include coaching or just shooting?
- How many edited photographs do you receive, not how many are taken?
- How many outfit changes are included?
- How long is delivery, and is faster delivery available?
- Do you get the raw images, and what are the usage rights?
- Is the shoot indoors, outdoors, or both, and what happens if the weather is bad?
A lower headline price can hide a short session or a small number of edited images. A higher one can include things you never use. Divide the fee by the number of edited photos and the minutes of coaching to see what you are actually buying.
Is it worth paying for
That depends on what your current photos are costing you. If your pictures are old, cropped from group shots, or taken at arm’s length, a session fixes the part of your profile that people see first. Our article on why dating profile photos matter explains how people read a profile in the first second or two.
We do not promise a number of matches, because nobody honestly can. What a session gives you is a set of photos that look like you on a good day, taken by someone who has been doing this in Toronto since 2018, with coaching so you do not have to figure out where to put your hands.
A simple way to decide
If you only need to replace a couple of weak photos, start with Basic. If you want choice and some coaching time to settle in, pick Premium. If you want the full set, quick delivery, and help with your bio, pick Plus.
